Jeepscout, I served as a TOC officer at Camp Matta in the late sixties with 1/32 and afterward as a Company Commander with 1/31; what unit were you with and what was your MOS and duties?

    Greetings jeepscout53:

I was part of the relief advance party in Aug 68. Do you remember Lt Twitchell?

    Welcome home.

Hi bayonet66, If you were among the relief advance party in Aug 68 then I may have been one of the Recon escorts for you. I was in HHC, !/32, 7th Inf Div. I do not remember Lt. Twitchell, or do not recall that name. Did he have red hair? I believe your unit, 1/31 replaced ours on the DMZ in September. Welcome Home to you too, Sir.

    Greetings jeepscout53:

Lt Twitchell was unfortunately killed by friendly fire (mistaken for an UI). He was a platoon leader . . . forgot the Co! He had just been killed when the CO (a West Point 2LT) briefed us. A valley on the DMZ was named after him.

    Hope that helps.

This is Lt Farquhar.  I was a platoon leader with C Co, 1/31 and Commo Platoon leader at Camp Matta from August 1968 to January 1969.  Lt. Twitchell sat next to me in the plane on the way to Korea.

This is Lt George Farquhar.  I was 1st Platoon Leader, C Co. and Commo Platoon Leader with 1/31 with you at Camp Matta.  You are the first one of us I have found on line.  I've been trying to remember who the S-4 was.  I read Holinger's book.  It was interesting to read some of the real events we lived through.
